The market requires fiberglass products with good appearance and high cost-effectiveness. There are two ways to solve defects in fiberglass products: internal modification and surface coating.
Internal modification: Utilizing high-performance resin matrix and reinforcing fiber additives to improve the quality of fiberglass. This method is costly.
Surface coating: During or after the forming process of fiberglass products, various high-performance or specific functional materials are used to modify, protect, or endow their surfaces with new functions, improving the quality and competitiveness of the products. The surface is high-quality and multifunctional, without changing the formula and process conditions of fiberglass products.
Most fiberglass surfaces are protected by simple methods such as spray painting or spray coating, but the quality is poor and requires frequent maintenance. High performance fiberglass surface protection refers to coating technology with high decoration, heavy corrosion resistance, super weather resistance, functionality, and ease of construction. High performance fiberglass surface protection has the following requirements:
Coatings (environmentally friendly): water-based coatings, powder coatings, high solids and solvent-free coatings;
Environmental protection coating process: spray molding, in mold coating (IMC);
There are six factors to consider when selecting coatings: coating purpose, working environment, construction conditions, adherence to the principle of "conservation", compatibility, and environmental protection requirements.
